The Leisure Unit manages and maintains sports and leisure facilities within Gällivare Municipality. We are here for the citizens of the municipality, and the purpose of our operations is to provide opportunities for a rich and active leisure time. We offer opportunities for various activities through our different sports and wellness facilities. We are also responsible for grants and other support to associations. The position is based at Sjöparksbadet in Gällivare, but work at other facilities may occur.

Job Responsibilities

The position is a combination role where you primarily work as a property caretaker at the swimming hall, but at certain times you will assist a team of 4 lifeguards in their work with pool supervision and other lifeguard tasks. As a property caretaker, you are responsible for water purification in the facility and for operational and maintenance work as well as other property management at the swimming hall. This includes, among other things, recurring inspections, repairs, supervision, and maintenance as well as emergency service. The work is performed with a high degree of independence. The work schedule is shift work.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with at least a high school education or other education that the employer deems equivalent. Good water skills are a requirement. Before employment, a Lifeguard test must be passed. Training as a property caretaker, lifeguard training, or other competence in swimming and sports facilities, as well as experience in similar tasks, is meritorious. For property caretaker tasks, plumbing or electrical certification is an advantage. A B driver's license is required. The work is performed in close contact with various colleagues at our facilities, and therefore you should have an easy time making social contacts and be able to build trusting relationships. Your ability to collaborate and adapt to different working conditions is important. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability, and a police record extract must be presented upon employment.

Within the framework of the national minority language law, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is an advantage when applying for employment in Gällivare Municipality.
